Garbage takes over Paynesville city

The Intellectual Class of Paynesville (ICP) is calling for the immediate resignation of the City Mayor Madam Pam Belcher-Taylor for keeping the city filthy.

For the past months residents of the city have complained of the huge mountains of garbage that have taken over streets corners of Paynesville especially in the commercial district of red-light.

Addressing a press conference recently in the city of Paynesville, the group’s Chairman, Forkpayea Mulbah said their call for Madam Taylor to step down is due to her inability to clean the city of several huge stockpiles of garbage.

According to Mulbah, the  huge stockpiles of garbage in the city is creating serious environmental pollution and health hazards for residents.

He named the Goba-Chop, Red-light and ELWA Markets among several other major commercial hubs as places currently engulfed with huge piles of garbage in the city.

Meanwhile, the group has given Madam Taylor a two-week ultimatum to clean the City or face unspecified action aimed at resolving the situation.

It can be recalled in May 2021,  Marketers of the Goba-Chop Market in Red-light protested over the Paynesville city Corporation  and the Liberia Marketing Association failure to remove  garbage from the market.

In response to the marketers claim, the Public Relations Officer of the PCC, Jeremiah Diggen blamed the situation on the LMA, stating that the association had failed to report funds collected from marketers to the PCC to enable the Corporation dispose of the garbage. The biggest question now is who is responsible to keep the city of Paynesville clean.
