Government of Liberia Drops all Charges against ANC Political Leader Alexander B. Cummings

After months of claims and counterclaims at the Monrovia City Court, the Government of Liberia has dropped all charges against Mr, Alexander B. Cummings Political Leader of the Alternative National Congress. Mr Cummings was taken to court for forgery and criminal conspiracy in the alleged altering of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) framework document.

Cummings, along with ANC chairman, Senator Daniel Naatehn and Secretary General Aloysius Toe were being prosecuted by the Government of Liberia as a result of complaint from Political Leader of the All Liberian Party (ALP) Benoni Urey regarding the CPP document.

The government’s decision to drop all charges against Cummings came minutes after the Supreme Court of Liberia final ruling in the CPP petition requesting the Unity Party not to field a candidate in the pending Lofa County by-election after exiting the CPP.

But according to Supreme Court ruling on Friday June 3, 2022, Section 8.5(2) of the CPP Frame Work document violates Article 17 of the Liberian constitution.

Speaking to reporters at the ground of the Temple of Justice in Monrovia, Solicitor General Cllr. Syrennius Cepheus said all charges against Mr Cummings has been dropped and Mr Cummings ca now go about his normal business.
