The Secretary General of the Liberia Council of Churches has written the Liberian Senate expressing objection to their decision to establish a Transitional Justice Commission intended to review the TRC report.

Recently, the Liberian Senate advised President George Weah to set up a Transitional Justice Commission that would analyze and investigate the findings of the final report of the TRC.

But, speaking at the program marking the observance of International Justice Day in Monrovia, Rev. Toe noted that the religious community has resolved that it will not form part of a transitional justice commission if established.

Also making remarks at the event, the Board Chair of the Civil Society Human Rights Advocacy Platform of Liberia, Rev. Francis Kollie said the decision of the Liberian Senate to set a transitional justice commission is a slap in the faces of families of the 250,000 people who were killed during the Liberian civil war.

Rev. Kollie however urged and encouraged unity amongst civil society organizations involved in the fight for accountability and justice for crimes committed during the civil crisis.
