Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson Koijee calls for cancellation of 174th Independence day celebration.

Ahead of Liberia’s 174th Independence Day Celebration, Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson Koijee is calling for the total cancellation of the day’s celebration.

Addressing a news conference on Wednesday in Monrovia, Mayor Koijee said due to the increasing waves of the new COVID-19 variant Independence Day’s celebration must be cancelled.

According to the Mayor, the celebration of the July 26 through a National event will undermine the government’s fight against the deadly Coronavirus in Liberia.

He admonished citizens and residents of Monrovia and its environs to continue to follow the guidelines instituted by the Health Authorities in preventing the spreading off the Corona Virus in the Country.
