Representative Mariamu B. Fofana eyes Lofa County Senatorial Seat 2020

As the day to 2020 senatorial elections draws closer many political actors in Lofa county have started their underground work with the aim of getting the popular vote come 2020.

Report from Lofa County says,  District #4 Lawmaker, Representative Mariamu B. Fofana is holding closed door meetings with her Kinsmen in the  Quadu Gboni region of her district as part of her consultation’s efforts for her senatorial ambition in Lofa County.

The Lofa County district #4 lawmaker who is currently serving as the chair on the House’s Committee on rules, order and administration has been criticized for tribalism and her inability to unite the Lorma and Madingo speaking ethnic group in her district. She has over the years been criticized for paying little attention the Lorma Speking region of her district as many developmental initiatives have been concentrated in the Quadu Gboni region. This nearly caused her to lose the district representative to Gizzie Kollie who she defeated with a narrow margin. she has won the Representatives election twice on the ticket of the former ruling Unity Party.

Despite the number of allegations against Madam Fofana, she is considered to be a formidable force in he upcoming senatorial election as she might be the only female candidate in the race. She has been praised for being one of the few lawmakers who have always give annual report on her initiatives and activities in her district. He has as well contributed the construction of many public facilities such as town halls and Police stations in Lofa county district # 4.

Can Hon Mariamu B. Fofana win the senatorial seat of her county? this remains the biggest debate in Lofa County.
