The Solicitor General of Liberia Cllr. Saymah Syrenius Cephus has expressed his support for the establishment of a Transitional Justice Commission to handle the TRC report rather than a war and economic crimes court.
Speaking on Thursday at the commencement of public hearings into the Senate leadership recommendation on the way forward in implementing the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Committee, Cllr.Cephus said the establishment of a war and economic crimes court is a laudable idea but it requires amending the Constitution of the Republic of Liberia.
The Solicitor General further explained that the opinion on the debate surest way to revert to the TRC process clearly supports the formation of the Transitional Justice Commission so that, the question as to why the TRC Recommendations have not been fully implemented can be addressed.
According to Cllr. Cephus his position on the report represents his personal opinions and not the Government of Liberia.
