The long awaited Joseph Boakai ferry turned over to the people of River-cess County.

Liberia’s former Vice President and Political leader of the unity party  Joseph Boakai has turned over a ferry to the people of River-cess County.

The ferry is in fulfillment of former Vice President Boakai promised made during the 2017 presidential election.

According to check Liberia reporter, citizens of Rivercess County who gathered at the city hall to receive the ferry celebrated the arrival of the ferry donated by former Vice President Boakai.

Over the years the River has become death trip for residents in Yarnee District especially during the raining season

On August 12, 2010, a canoe carrying over 14 passengers to Yarnee District from Cestos City capsized leaving many people drowned.

Receiving the ferry in a jubilant mood , Yarnee Statutory District Superintendent Henry Sobeor described Ambassador Joseph Boakai as “talk and do”.

Mr. Sobeor whose district is expected to benefit from the ferry said he was delighted that Amb. Boakai kept his promise to the people of River Cess

According to the Statutory District Superintendent of Rivercess County many people have visited the home of Amb. Boakai to purchase the ferry but the former Vice President vehemently refused saying the ferry has already been donated to the people of River Cess County.

He expressed thanks and appreciation to former vice President Boakai for fulfilling his promise to the people of the County. He revealed that the district leadership is currently working with the local administration to source funding from the county Social Development Fund to build a terminal at the Cestos River Crossing Point noting that this will be the first of its kind that ferry will commutate over the Cestos River
