The Sergeant At Arms at the House of Representatives has ordered the arrest of the President of the Economic Freedom Fighters of Liberia (EFFL), Emmanuel Gonquoi for alleged act of terrorism.
Gonquoi along with other members of the EFFL last week besieged the Capitol Building and locked its main entrance. The incident led to a scuffle between the securities assigned at the capitol and the members of the EFFL as a result some of the securities sustaining injuries.
Addressing the media recently, the Sergeant At Arms at the House of Representatives Martin Johnson said Emmanuel Gonquoi needs to explain why he besieged the Capitol Building and prevented Legislators’ entry to the offices.
Meanwhile in response, the President of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFFL) of Liberia, Emmanuel Gonquoi has described his arrest ordered by the Legislature as a show off or political grandstanding.
According to Gonquoi his protest action was intended to restore transparency at the Liberian legislature..
The EFFL leader at the same time described the Legislators as terrorists due to what he calls their several acts of corruption over the years.
He said his institution has no regret over its recent protest action and is prepared to repeat similar action if lawmakers fail to return the money.
