Employees of the Renaissance Communications incorporated popularly known as Truth FM 96.1 began an indefinite go slow strike action on Wednesday December 26, 2018 in Paynesville demanding for 9 months salaries arrears.
On Wednesday, normal business and broadcasting activities came to a standstill as employees of Truth fm abandoned their posts to protest for their 9 months salaries.
According to the employees of the station, Since April 2018, the 36 employees of the station have not received salary and management has failed to clearly communicate with them on when their 9 months salaries will be paid, something they described as unfair treatment and violation of the labor law of Liberia which has forced them to take the strike action.
The editor in chief of truth FM Joseph Koon said their go-slow strike action will continue until management settle their salaries arrears. He however said the employees are ready and willing to go on the negotiation table with Management but the warfare of the employees will not be compromised. Meanwhile some of the employees said they will only go back to work if management is able to pay for nothing less than 5 moths’ salaries and a written contract is signed when the rest of the payment will be made.
It can be recording earlier this year similar strike action was taken before the employees were paid for two months.
The renaissance Communications Incorporated is owned by Liberian Businessman and former Liberia Football Association President Musa Hassan Bility.
All efforts to speak to RCI management on the issues was fruitless as management couldn’t speak on the matter.
